Education/Certification Requirements:
  • Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard cutters/U.S. Navy ships, various U.S. Coast Guard/U.S. Navy Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E), electronic or weapons systems is highly desired, but not required.  Understanding of mechanical equipment/systems is a must.
  • College/Professional Training or Equivalent Experience.
  • Candidates will be evaluated based on a combination of education and relevant work experience.
Detailed Position Description:
As part of the Coast Guard DEEPWATER recapitalization program, the National Security Cutter (NSC) was initially contracted to be logistically supported by the contractor, using a to-be-developed Logistics Information Management System (LIMS).  Recognizing that the LIMS application would not be developed adequately to meet the initial CG support date for NSC1, in June 2007 the CG made the business decision to support the ship using the Vessel Logistics System (VLS) tool suite.   An effort is underway to correct any data discrepancies and enter the data into the Coast Guard’s Naval Engineering Supply Support System (NESSS). This position will be working under the guidance of senior experienced Provisioners who can help train candidates on the IT systems involved.  Initially this position will be data entry, but will grow to entail other aspects of provisioning.

Candidates must be a forward looking, industrious, self-starting leader, committed to on-schedule product delivery to the client, and able to work in a fluid work environment on both individual and team assignments. Client interface will be required. Candidates are expected to conduct all internal and client related communications in a professional, customer-focused manner.

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance Level II certification highly desired; or candidate will be required to complete the certification training within three months.

Detailed Position Description:
  • Analyze and develop maintenance procedures using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology for Coast Guard electronic systems and equipment.
  • Responsible for data collection, processing and maintaining data for analysis.
  • Effort includes development of all aspects of Coast Guard Maintenance Procedure Cards (MPCs) including developing, correcting, updating, quality assurance, validation and administration. Position interacts with clients to understand maintenance philosophy and infrastructure.
  • Review engineering designs, equipment characteristics, and failure data to develop or review existing maintenance.
  • Individual must be innovative with strong analytical and writing skills. Familiarity with electronic shipboard systems or maintenance logistics elements a plus.

Detailed Position Description:
The Maintenance Procedure Developer will be responsible for developing detailed, technically correct computer-based Maintenance Procedures for Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems in support of the U.S. Coast Guard’s LRE Product Line.

  • Candidates are required to possess a strong mechanical background with marine equipment.
  • Research, collect, interpret and apply information gathered from complex technical documents, manufacturers, sources of supply, shipboard personnel and various parts databases.
  • Identify maintenance requirements using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis and develop maintenance procedures for the Coast Guard’s Hull, Mechanical, & Electrical (HM&E) systems. 
  • Scheduled Organizational Maintenance Procedures shall be stand-alone documents that are written at the comprehension level of a recent graduate from a rating technical school (Class “A”).
  • Capability to produce professional quality Maintenance Procedures suitable for publication is required.
